Midwest is a deliberate bet on what businesses should look like at the inflection point we are standing in front of.
Vision
Verticals & community
The opportunity is in the verticals we choose. We make change by unblocking obfuscated industries that have no good reason to be blocked, and we pick them on purpose. The portfolio today sits across healthcare data infrastructure, real estate operations, legal and financial document intelligence, and licensed cannabis retail — including a ~$30B+ regulated US cannabis retail category and a $15–$20B intersection of enterprise AI and legal due diligence. Built on a fully agentic, large-format operating model with human output capped at no more than 20% of the company, each vertical can generate the kind of margin profile a 20th-century incumbent in the same category cannot reach.
The good we want to do is funded by the capital we receive. The companies we build are designed to throw off real margin, and the individuals at the table from the beginning reap the rewards as owners — that part is non-negotiable. Beyond that, the company itself is structured to reinvest a deliberate share of the capital we receive back into the communities that sit around each portfolio company we create. We are not here to be greedy. We are here to be one of the examples the next generation of companies copies — because at the right margin, in the right verticals, with the right operating model, the people on the payroll and the communities we operate inside line up at the same time.
